hekko
hello
need help
twid: yes, of course
tbr: thanks
I want to connect my BBB to the internet directly through the Internet port ( via DHCP ) and then look into it via USB from a linux machine through putty
how do it do it ?.
araru: that will depend on which linux distribution you are running on the device
it is a out of box one
so the flash has factory image
by BBB is a REvB
then the first order of business is to reflash it with an up to date debian image
I want to do this so that I can get updates directly onto the board
as it's a rev B you'll need to make sure to get a 2GB image
uname -a gets me Linux beaglebone 3.8.13, armv71 GNU/Linux
ok this @GB one is a new one ?.
2GB one is a new one ?.
http://elinux.org/Beagleboard:BeagleBoneBlack_Debian#BBB_.28All_Revs.29_eMMC_Flashers
board revision B has only 2GB eMMC, so you can't flash a 4GB rev C image to it, obviously.
Ok Ok
and then ? after I boot it up with the new image what do it do ?.
I think the inbuild IP address would stay the same
it will just work
ho the dhcp would be enabled and it can fetch its adress over the IP cable directly?.
if you edit the right files
right files ?. the netwrok ones ?.
woglinde: AFAIU it will do DHCP by default on eth0 while also the usb0 will be active, no editing necessary.
ok let me try
