  • [14:45:14] <rneese> Optional JTAG There is no JTAG over USB support on the BeagleBone Black. The BeagleBone Black is different than the BeagleBone. JTAG is an uninstalled option. To install the JTAG header, all you have to do is install P2 on the back of the board. P2 is a Samtec FTR-110-03-G-D-06 connector and can be purchased from Samtec or any of their distributors.
  • [14:45:24] <rneese> there is the option to fix the unit

  • [14:55:19] <Jonnyw2k> I've had a cunning plan!
  • [14:56:02] <Jonnyw2k> it appears its only since 3.8 Kernels that you need the 0xFFFFFFFF machine ID. So i will use an old beaglebone white image with a pre 3.8 kernel and try and boot from that
  • [14:57:01] <XorA> Jonnyw2k: appending the DTB to the kernel should take care of that issue
  • [14:57:21] <Jonnyw2k> how do I "append" a DTB :/
  • [14:57:41] <Jonnyw2k> fatload usb 0:1 ${loadaddr} /zImage; fatload usb 0:1 ${fdtaddr} /dtbs/am335x-bone.dtb; bootz
  • [14:57:50] <Jonnyw2k> unlesss my "fdtaddr" is wrong
  • [14:58:18] <XorA> bootz ${loadaddr} - ${ftdaddr}
  • [14:58:27] <Jonnyw2k> ahhhh
  • [14:58:35] <XorA> dont forget the - its important
  • [14:59:05] <XorA> otherwise you can actually append it to the zImage in the kernel built
  • [14:59:23] <XorA> make zImage-am335x-done.dtb (or something like that)
  • [14:59:35] <XorA> for bootloaders not supported DTB loading
