Capes and PocketCapes are daughter-board add-on products for BeagleBone-family and PocketBeagle-family products, respectively. Each extends the functionality of your BeagleBone or PocketBeagle for new exciting capabilities. Hundreds of cape designs are available in the community and now there is also a line of BeagleBoard.org capes readily available from numerous world-wide distributors to help you achieve your learning and design goals.

BeagleBoard.org Comms Cape

For industrial communication applications. Provides an array of communication protocols including one RS485, one CAN, two analog 420 mA current loops, and two 3A 50V interfaces allowing the control of high current loads.

BeagleBoard.org Power Cape

Complete power interface for your BeagleBone. Provides regulated 3.3V and System out (Typically 5V) from the BeagleBone itself as well as an on-board regulator to provide a separate additional 3.3V (up to 1.0A) and 5V (up to 1.3A) out. The input voltage can go up to 30V. It also includes an interface to the BeagleBone power button and system reset.

    Provides a blank slate to design any type of application that you can imagine. Along with plated through-holes for external component soldering, there are a few on-board components, such as buttons, a multi-colored LED, and a basic LED to assist in the design process. The ID EEPROM is also capable of having the address be re-assigned to allow for a seamless integration into the BeagleBone cape schema.

  • Community Capes

    In addition to the BeagleBoard.org Capes, a number of community capes have been deemed BeagleBoard.org Approved and are supported by the official BeagleBoard.org software images.

    There is also a self-serve cape registry on eLinux.org. This is the official place for third parties to document their capes.

    Even lower touch, there is a Google Doc cape registry. To add your own cape or cape idea, use the Google Form for cape ideas.
